Biocigarette spirits: the sixteenth portrait of despair.
”he’s slight.” you will think to yourself as you approach the figure standing at the end of the path. he will not say anything to you; you will walk no further. “he’s slight.” you will think again. “he is sad.” you will realize. you will also realize (soon enough. be patient.) that you are wrong.
he is not sad; he is empty and it is a far greater thing to be empty than to be sad. (there is a difference.)
he smokes too. you will wonder why. you will never venture to ask. hunger, maybe –- but what can cigarette spirits fill? what kind of void do you think he carries inside of him, nestled somewhere between the breastbone and spine?
(it is a heavy one, he will tell you that much, at least. if there could be such as thing.)
a heavy void. that is what he is. the flesh blood and bone you see is nothing more than the cover of a blank book. a prelude to nothing. an introduction to emptiness. (we are bound by our grief; we are chained by our immortality.)
